Media consent – your choice
We occasionally take photos or short videos during class for coaching review, social-media highlights, and to showcase what training looks like. Please indicate below whether you’re happy to appear in this material. Saying “No” will never affect your place in the group—we’ll simply keep you out of frame or edit you out, as needed. You can change your preference at any time by speaking to the instructor or emailing us.
Media Use Licence & Consent
East Lothian Self Defence (“we”, “our”, “the School”) may occasionally take photographs and record video or audio (“Media”) during classes, seminars, or events.
By signing or ticking I agree on the Media Consent Form, you (“Participant”) grant us the rights set out below.
1. Permission Granted
You give the School a world-wide, perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to:
reproduce, edit, and adapt the Media;
combine the Media with other images, text, or graphics;
publish the Media in any format (print, digital, social media, website, press, promotional materials, coaching resources).
2. How We Will Use the Media
Usage is limited to promotional, educational, coaching, or archival purposes connected with the School’s activities.
We will not sell the Media to third parties or use it in any context that we reasonably believe could be derogatory or defamatory.
3. Data-Protection & Privacy
The Media may constitute “personal data” under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Legal basis: consent (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).
Media files are stored securely and access is restricted to authorised staff and contractors.
We keep Media for as long as it remains relevant to the purposes above, unless you withdraw consent (see §5).
4. No Compensation
You understand that you will not receive payment or any other consideration for the use of the Media now or in the future.
5. Withdrawal of Consent
You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing us or speaking to the instructor.
On withdrawal we will stop using the Media in new materials. Where practical, we will remove or blur existing images from our channels; however, we cannot guarantee deletion from materials already printed or shared by third parties.
6. Minors (Under 18)
If the Participant is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign the consent on their behalf.
7. Governing Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of Scotland and the courts of Scotland shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
